School Manager - Rev. Genil AbrahamDear students, parents, staff and well-wishers,

With immense pride and great pleasure, I welcome you to the school’s Website. Our institution has marched forward to spread the light of education and pave the path of academic excellence for every student. Our School’s primary goal is to equip our students with the skills to define a quality not only for themselves but for the benefit of the world.

It is the dream of our country to provide quality education to its children. In the year 1950, the Constitution, in Article 45 under the Directive Principles of State Policy, resolved that “the State shall endeavor to provide, within ten years from the commencement of this Constitution, free and compulsory education to all children till they complete the age of fourteen”. Thereafter, many Constitutional amendments were made with the intent of giving a boost to elementary education in India.

The value of education is often interpreted as “get a job”, however, in my view, the value of education (associated with employment) is to enable the student to be “employable”. This concept has a distinct meaning other than simply obtaining a credential that facilitates access to an interview. Employability is the capacity to think critically, regardless of the profession.

Education is a fundamental factor in one’s life. It is essential for future success and to have a variety of opportunities in life. Education has numerous benefits for individuals. For example, it broadens the mind and thinking capacity. It assists students to plan for employment or to pursue higher education. Education in an area helps individuals to think, feel, and act in a manner that promotes their success and enhances not only their personal well-being but also their social well-being.

Educational attainment is essential for the development of human character, mental faculties, interpersonal relationships, and life experiences. It affords individuals a unique position in their society and the world in which they live. It is my belief that all individuals have the right to receive education from the cradle to the grave.

In the past, the primary focus of education was to instill values such as humility, honesty, discipline, self-reliance, and respect for all forms of creation in students. These values were typically taught in ashrams, Gurukuls, and households.

However, in modern times, education has become an act of deposit, in which students are the depositaries and teachers are the depositors. Instead of teaching, teachers issue communiqués and “make deposits” which students absorb, remember, and replicate. This is the “banking” concept of education, where the students are only allowed to accept, file, and store deposits.

According to Paulo Freire (1921–97), a Brazilian educator, Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry men pursue in the world, with the world, and with each other. Education, according to Freire, is a practice of freedom and should be seen as an act of freedom.

According to Dr. Annie Besant, the school must be a center of good and joyous influences, radiating from it to the neighborhood. Studies and games must all be turned to the building of character, to the making of the good citizen, the lover of his country.

Over the recent years, Mar Thoma School, Maharashtra has implemented a comprehensive set of educational reforms to create a harmonious combination of academic content and skills development. Our educational practices are designed to foster critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, allowing our students to better adapt to the changing global work environment.

We are fortunate to have a highly-skilled, devoted, and compassionate team of staff who work tirelessly to nurture and develop the skills of our students.

May the school reach new heights in the years to come and shine in a galaxy of glory and fame.

Let us look back with satisfaction and move forward with excitement.
