Mar Thoma School Maharashtra

History of our School

Getting education is a fundamental right of each and every child. It is our responsibility and privilege to help and educate the nearby economically and socially weak children irrespective of their caste and creed. The aim of our school is not only to have a teaching learning process but also to form good character, self-confidence and self-esteem in the students.

With the above concept, Mar Thoma Church Chembur started Mar Thoma School Maharashtra on 14th June 1982 with K.G. classes with the strength of only 12 students. Our classes were initially conducted in the stilt area. The school under the guidance of governing council and committed teachers continued to grow steadily and gradually into a full-fledged secondary school. Our first batch of SSC students appeared for the board exam in March 1996. The present school building with all its amenities was inaugurated on 15th November 2002. Silver Jubilee of the school was celebrated in the year 2007 with a grand annual day cum cultural programme and releasing a souvenir helping to form “Umeed foundation” for helping differently abled children, suffering from cancer from Tata Hospital at Trombay, Mumbai.

We have well trained and dedicated staff for better academic and all round performance of students. We have a well-equipped science laboratory, full-fledged computer lab, audio visual room and a library with great collection of books. Our school band is an additional feather to our cap. We have continuous good performance of our secondary students in board exams. Our students actively participate in extra-curricular activities such as sports, science exhibition and in all other competitions conducted by the department of education.

Council elects Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and Hon. Jt .Treasurer to run day to day affairs of the school. Our Church and School are registered under Public Trust Charity Act 1950.
